Western Australia's South West is rich in history, culture and stunning natural landscapes. From the ancient cave systems in the Margaret River region to climbing century-old trees in Pemberton. The South West is the perfect destination to take the whole family. From adventure activities such as caving, surfing, horseback riding and delving into mazes, to learning about the rich Aboriginal culture or discovering local wildlife. For something quirky, check out Gnomesville, the home of over 3,000 gnomes. Indulge in locally made chocolates, fudge and ice cream and wear them out at one of the dozens of national parks and playgrounds–some of which are located at award-winning wineries for your convenience.


Adventure in the South West

With a vast and diverse landscape, the South West offers various exciting opportunities for outdoor adventures. Journey deep into the earth to explore crystal and limestone caves dating back over 350,000 years. For lovers of heights, climb century-old trees or challenge yourself with a high ropes course. It's not hard to fall in love in the South West. In the summer, the South West's idyllic locations inspire hundreds to pop the question or tie the knot. In the cooler winter months, when the mists roll in through the fairytale forests, many couples visit the region to disconnect from the world and reconnect with each other.

From gourmet foodie events, seasonal festivals, races, competitions, art and even a medieval fair, there's always something happening in the South West. The laid-back vibe and creative melting pot of people have lead to a rich artist culture. The area is filled with galleries, street art and reclaimed urban structures. There are even two art trails created in the forests of the South West. Modern culture is very much centred around art, good locally produced food and a little bohemian charm.

For lovers of history, there's much to explore with vibrant cultural treasures and heritage locations still accessible to visitors. Remenants of ancient Aboriginal, military settlement and pioneering days dot towns throughout the region.
