Travel in comfort and style aboard the Prospector, Transwa’s high-speed train service between East Perth Terminal and Kalgoorlie Station. Operating daily—with two services on Mondays and Fridays—the Prospector offers a fast, convenient way to explore Western Australia’s Golden Outback.

Originally launched in 1971, the Perth to Kalgoorlie standard gauge line replaced the overnight sleeper service, dramatically reducing the 653 km journey time from fourteen hours to just eight. At the time, it was the fastest train service in Australia.

Today’s Prospector is a modern, fully equipped train—fondly known by locals as the "Kalgoorlie train." It features:

Air-conditioning throughout

On-demand personal entertainment systems with new release movies
Accessible toilet and disability facilities

Built by United Goninan in Broadmeadow, NSW, the WDA/WDB/WDC-class Prospector trains offer a smooth and enjoyable ride for all passengers.
