  • Fares are for the most direct route between start and end locations. Alternative routes may be charged at a higher fare. Please check our Bookings to obtain the price for alternative routes.
  • SmartCommuter fares are only available on the Australind, AvonLink and MerredinLink (between East Perth and Northam) services. Please see our SmartCommuter for details.
  • Fares are subject to change without notice.

Family fares

We'd love to see more families getting out and about in our great state on Transwa, so we're making it even more affordable.

Your kids already ride for 50% of the regular adult fare, and from 1 February 2017 we increased the discount to 75% when you travel as a family with between two and four children. That's a huge saving!

So, let Transwa be your family's personal people mover! Simply enter the promotional code 'family' when making your booking.

Terms and conditions:

  • The promotion is valid from 1 February 2017 on all eligible Transwa bookings
  • The offer is not valid for ticket purchases made on board our services
  • The promotional code 'family'  must be used at the time of booking online
  • No further discounts can be used in conjunction with this promotion
  • Bookings made prior to this promotion do not qualify for the discount and cannot be backdated or altered
  • The discount will only be applied when families book with between two and four children and at least one full fare paying adult, on the same ticket

Online bookings are available to WA Pensioners who have a Pensioner SmartRider and to WA Health Care cardholders who have a Concession SmartRider. If you hold one of these cards, or a Student, Senior or Veteran SmartRider, all you need is your SmartRider number and your date of birth at the time of booking online. Then at the time of boarding, have your valid concession card and your relevant SmartRider with you so that we can validate your ticket.

Western Australian Pensioners with free travel vouchers or concession cardholders not in possession of a SmartRider need to book over the phone or in person.

SmartRiders can be topped up at the East Perth and Bunbury Booking Centres.

At Transwa we offer discounted travel for all ages. If you would like to purchase a ticket using your valid concession ensure you have your card on you when you book, and while on board. If required, you may be asked to show another form of ID.

 Assistance Dogs

Guide Dogs

Persons with a vision or hearing impairment can travel with an approved Guide Dog on Transwa services. The Guide Dog requires a valid identification card issued by a training organisation prescribed under the Dog Regulations 2013. Guide Dogs must have a suitably marked dog coat or harness that identifies it. More information about Guide Dogs can be found by contacting SEDA or VisAbility.

Department of Local Government and Communities Approved Assistance Dog 

Persons in a possession of a valid Approved Assistance Dog card can travel with their Assistance Dog on Transwa services. Assistance Dogs must have a suitably marked dog coat or harness that identifies it. More information about Assistance Dogs can be found by contacting the Department of Local Government and Communities or Assistance Dogs Australia.


No other animals are allowed on any of our services or facilities.

 ASH Concession Smartrider

Asylum Seeker - ASH Concession SmartRider

Western Australian residents in possession of a ASH Concession SmartRider are entitled to a 50% concession on all Transwa services

To be eligible for the concession, cardholders must present the valid ASH Concession SmartRider when booking and when travelling.

VIP Backpackers Card/Youth Hostel Association Card

If you have a valid VIP Backpackers card or Youth Hostel Association Card you are entitled to a 10% discount on all Transwa services. 

To take advantage of the discount you will need to contact Transwa on 1300 662 2. We will need to see the cardholder's name and the expiry date at the time of booking. 



Children aged 5 to 15 years (inclusive) are entitled to a 50% concession on all Transwa services.

Underage Children

Children aged 4 years and younger can travel on all Transwa services free of charge if they do not occupy a seat.

Each adult (16 years or older) can travel with up to two children under 5 years of age. Please note that only one child can travel on the lap of their accompanying adult. The other underage child must be seated next to them and subsequently pay a relevant children's fare. 

Unaccompanied Children

Children aged 10 to 15 years may travel without being accompanied by an adult provided a Travel Authorisation for Unaccompanied Child/Children form has been completed and presented to Transwa's operational staff. See our Advice for Adults factsheet that assists adults and guardians who book travel for unaccompanied children.

Bookings for unaccompanied children cannot be made online, please contact Transwa to make a booking.

 Companion Card

Companion Card

Transwa offers free travel to support persons travelling with someone carrying a Companion card. 

Companion cards are issued by National Disability Services WA to people with a significant permanent disability who require attendant care support from a companion.

Please Note: The passenger carrying the Companion card must purchase a valid ticket at the appropriate rate.

Companion card concession bookings cannot be made online, to make a booking please contact Transwa.

 Seniors and Pensioners


Pensioner Concessions

Western Australian residents in possession of a valid Pensioner card are entitled to a 50% concession on all Transwa services.

Pensioner cards are issued by Centrelink or the Department for Veteran Affairs. Pensioner concession cardholders will receive Free Travel Vouchers with their Pensioner card every two years and these may be redeemed to obtain four single journeys or two return journeys on Transwa services prior to the expiry date on the vouchers.

Please note: only the primary cardholder as named on the card can use the Pensioner card for concessional travel on Transwa services. 


Senior Concessions

Seniors nationally are entitled to a 50% concession on all Transwa services.

Senior SmartRider cards are granted by the Department of Local Government and Communities to Western Australian residents. The SmartRider is issued with or attached to the Seniors card, which shows the cardholders name, card number and State of issue. Senior cardholders from other States are entitled to 50% concession.

 Health Care

Health Care Card

WA residents in possession of a valid Heath Care Card are entitled to a 50% concession on all Transwa services.

The cards are granted by Centrelink offices and show the cardholders name, address, cardholder reference number and expiry date.

Students (16 years +) are entitled to a 50% concession on all Transwa services. 

To be eligible for the concession, students must carry a valid Student SmartRider or Tertiary SmartRider on them at all times.

Transwa accepts two types of concession cards for Western Australian Veterans; the Veteran SmartRider and the Gold Health card.

The SmartRider is issued by Transperth and entitles Veterans to a 50% concession.

The DVA Gold Health card is issued by the Department for Veterans' Affairs and entitles Veterans to additional free trips every two years. Veterans in possession of a Western Australian Pensioner card should refer to the Pensioners/Seniors tab.

 Vision Impaired

Vision Impaired

People in possession of a Travel Pass for Persons with a Vision Impairment are entitled to unlimited free journeys for them and an accompanying guide on all Transwa services. A Western Australian Vision Impairment Travel Pass is required for proof of eligibility. More information can be obtained from VisAbility or SEDA.

Holders of Interstate passes can obtain a WA Travel Pass from Transperth Reception, Level 1, Public Transport Centre, West Parade, East Perth.
